Welcome to Meet Me In Maumee!

A Fresh Voice for Our Beloved Hometown By John Sayre and Julie Koralewski

Uptown Maumee Ohio

Hello, Maumee!

We’re thrilled to launch Meet Me In Maumee — your new go-to spot for all the fun, fascinating, and downright delightful things happening right here in our corner of Northwest Ohio. Whether you’re a lifelong resident, a frequent visitor strolling through Uptown, or someone who just loves the charm of small-town life along the Maumee River, this is your invitation to pull up a chair and join the conversation.

For decades, The Maumee Mirror (lovingly known to many as just The Mirror) was the heartbeat of our community — delivering local news, stories, photos, and that classic hometown feel week after week. When it closed its doors, a little piece of Maumee went quiet. We’re not here to replace it (that’s impossible), but we are here to carry forward its spirit in a fresh, modern way: through lively podcast episodes and companion blog articles that celebrate everything we love about this city.

Meet your hosts: John Sayre and Julie Koralewski — two Maumee enthusiasts who can’t stop talking about this place (in the best possible way). We’ll be chatting about upcoming events, hidden gems, colorful local characters, historic tidbits, seasonal fun, and anything else that makes Maumee, well… Maumee. Expect plenty of laughs, a few “did you know?” moments, and the occasional friendly debate about the best spot for perch or the prettiest stretch of the river.

On the podcast, you’ll hear casual conversations that feel like you’re sitting with us at a sidewalk café in Uptown. On the blog, we’ll dive deeper — event recaps, spotlights on local businesses, photo features, guest contributions, and more.

What can you expect in the coming weeks and months?

  • Episodes dropping regularly, covering everything from festival previews to interviews with longtime residents
  • Blog posts with photo galleries, event calendars, and fun “Maumee Must-Do” lists
  • Spotlights on Uptown shops, riverfront adventures, Sidecut Metropark trails, and community happenings
  • Listener and reader submissions — we want to hear your stories!

We’re just getting started, and we can’t wait to grow this with all of you. Subscribe to the podcast wherever you listen, bookmark the site, and follow us on social media. Got a story idea, event tip, or just want to say hi? Drop us a line — we’d love to meet you in Maumee.

Here’s to new beginnings, old friendships, and the next chapter of our hometown story.

See you around town,
